WiP and a Finish

Okay, basting is not my favorite part of quilt construction.  Today I've been working on basting my "Winter in the Woods" quilt so that I can begin to quilt it.  I tell you what, I was sweating when I was finished crawling all over the floor to get it flat and straight and smooth.  And I promise you I work out regularly!  There is definitely an aerobic component to parts of our hobby!

On another note, I finished up my sweet Best. Day. Ever! patchwork quilt a couple days ago.  And I love how it turned out!  I backed it in a yellow and white polka dot, and finished it like a comforter without any binding from this tutorial by Svetlana at s.o.t.a.k. Handmade.

I like the way the yellow backing shows a bit on the front:

And, I even have a matching bag to go with it!  Fun! (or funny!)

I am so happy I no longer have to crawl on the floor to baste a quilt. I love that happy little quilt and I like how you finished off the edges. And that cute little bag is a nice added bonus.

I love your blog. I would love to follow by email.
You have lots of happy stuff being made, and creativity abounds.
I made a big baby quilt to with Best Day Ever. I love those types of fabrics, Happy and bright,
I am really happy to have found your blog.
I do not have lots of time to sew. I am taking care of my 92 year old twins, my parents and they are a handful.
Have a fun week

Very happy fabric indeed! I like the lights you used too, and I like your bag. But I REALLY like the framed photograph of the yellow-headed blackbird on the floor peeking out behind the quilt! We used to have them come to our birdfeeders with the red-winged blackbirds and the cowbirds. I always thought they sounded grouchy with their scratchy grumbly grawks!
